David Bowie was ahead of his time. In 1997, he launch his Bowie Bonds whereby he surrendered his royalties over 10 years for 55 million. Bowie has played with some great musicians such as Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, the Who and Elton John. David had one brother, Terry, who introduced him to rock and roll early in his life. However, Terry had mental illness and commited suicide in 1985. His song, Jump They Say, was written because of this tragedy. David changed his name to set himself apart from earlier bands he had played with, his last name was inspired from the Bowie knife developed in the 19th century by Jim Bowie.

He had been living in New York and London, and some say, the lyrics in his last album hinted of his upcoming death. His song Lazarus is a final message to his fans. Originally born David Robert Jones, he changed his name in the 60's. David Bowie was born in South London. He is survived by his two children - Alexandria Zahra Jones, Duncan Jones. He was married twice. His first spouse - Angela Bowie (1970-1980), and later David married Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid, professionally known as Iman, is a Somali-American fashion model and they were married from (1992-2016).
