Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco and was given up for adoption. He was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs, and was named Steven Paul Jobs. While in high school, Jobs met his future business partner Steve Wozniak. In 1976, Jobs sold his Volkswagen bus and Wozniak sold his scientific calculator to start Apple Computer from Jobs' garage.
In 1980, Apple Computer became a publicly traded company, with an amazing first day of trading, valued at $1.2 billion. Jobs did not pursue a formal position in his company at the beginning, and eventually left the company in 1985 and returned in 1997 to help Apple compete with Microsoft by launching the iMac computer. While Jobs was away, he partnered up with George Lucas and formed a company later to be called Pixar. Walt Disney asked Pixar to merge with them and Jobs and Lucas accepted.
Jobs died from an ongoing battle of pancreatic cancer. Steve Jobs was a private man, an intelligent man, and man that changed the computer world for millions of people. He died at the age of 56.
